About Me

Hi, I’m Anjali.

I’m a lawyer, writer, coach, yoga teacher, traveler, and someone with way too many interests to neatly fit into one category.

This site is simply a home for all the different parts of my life and work.

I’ve spent over a decade practicing law, primarily in technology transactions, intellectual property, privacy, and commercial agreements. I’m the founder of Uncommon Counsel PLLC, where I work with companies ranging from startups to larger in-house legal teams on practical, business-focused legal matters.

Outside of law, movement and personal growth have always been huge parts of my life. I teach yoga and fitness with a strong emphasis on freedom, strength, mobility, and sustainability rather than perfection or extremes. My style tends to be intuitive, breath-driven, and a little rebellious.

I also work with coaching millennial women of color at UncommonEvolution.com in areas related to mindset, confidence, reinvention, movement, motivation, and building a life that feels more aligned and intentional. A lot of what interests me — whether through coaching, writing, yoga, or conversation — comes back to helping women of color reconnect with themselves and move forward in a way that actually feels meaningful to them.

I also write — a lot. Over the years, my essays and articles have appeared in outlets including the Washington Post, HuffPost, The Culture Trip, Elite Daily, YourTango, and Elephant Journal. My writing usually circles around identity, relationships, personal growth, culture, travel, and the strange experience of being human.

I grew up in an Indian family and around a lot of traditional yogic philosophy, which shaped me in many ways even though I’ve always approached life with a “take what works and leave what doesn’t” mindset.

Academically, I attended New York University Stern School of Business before earning my J.D. from New York University School of Law. I’m also a certified yoga teacher and NASM-certified personal trainer.

Mostly, though, I’m just someone who genuinely loves learning, moving, writing, traveling, building things, and connecting with people.

Thanks for being here.
